Jonathan obtained an Economics degree from the London School of Economics in 1988. Following a spell of world travelling, in 1990 he joined Morgan Stanley International in London, trading foreign exchange. Two years later he moved to Sydney where he worked for Societe Generale, being promoted to Regional Chief Dealer in Singapore in 1997. Jonathan then moved to Paris, following which he attended INSEAD. On completing his MBA (Distinction) in 2000, Jonathan launched an electronic derivative-trading platform with venture capital backing.

In late 2001 he returned to Guernsey with his family and took up employment with Asset Risk Consultants (ARC). In 2015, with assets under scrutiny of around £18 billion, ARC employs over 65 consultants, analysts, developers and support staff with offices in London, Guernsey, Jersey and Toronto to serve a global client base. ARC has proven expertise in assessing and monitoring investment structures and performance across the full range of traditional and non-traditional asset classes for private clients, trustees, charities and wealth advisers. Service delivery combines the application of proprietary analytical techniques with established performance metrics, delivered through the appropriate mix of software and consulting.

Over the last 20 years ARC has built an unrivalled research platform. ARC’s research department has collected and scrutinised due diligence on over 200 managers, and ARC review the actual client performance of over 150 managers, with over 150,000 portfolios, whose combined assets under management are in excess of £300 billion.

The Charities Commission issued a guidance note, CC14 Investment of Charitable Funds: Basic Principles which sets out a framework for trustees to follow to meet their fiduciary obligations and legal responsibilities. ARC has developed a suite of services designed to assist trustees in achieving best practice covering all aspects of the establishment and ongoing review of delegated investment powers.

ARC Charity Indices (ACI) , launched in 2012, with data going back to December 2003, are a set of Sterling denominated indices, representing four risk appetites (Cautious, Balanced, Steady Growth and Equity Risk), compiled by Asset Risk Consultants (ARC) to help place charity investment portfolio performance into peer group context, assisting trustees and their advisers to fulfil their fiduciary responsibilities on their portfolios.  The ACI provide a unique insight into the actual returns being generated by investment managers. The four performance series are based on real numbers from over 1600 portfolios provided by currently twenty eight participating investment managers.

Jonathan became a director of ARC in 2003. He has also been appointed to a number of listed non-executive directorships.

Jonathan currently lives in Guernsey with his wife and two children.
